About Isomux
Isomux is a meta-harness that runs Claude Code, Codex, and other agents as coworkers in a shared office, adding features such as live human collaboration, agent-to-agent communication, and multi-device support.
The team behind Isomux
Isomux is built by Nil Mamano, its founder. Isomux LLC is the company behind it. Nil has a PhD in computer science from UC Irvine, was a senior software engineer at Google, and co-wrote Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview.
Isomux started in March 2026 as a nicer way to manage agents. Nil had a mix of local and remote sessions: for the local ones he had to keep his laptop open, and for the remote ones he had to ssh all the time. He couldn't check in from his phone and he had no good way to collaborate with others. The fix was to run every agent on a server with a browser UI, so all his devices see the same agents. The name is short for Isometric Multiplexer.

Enterprise
Organizations of more than 10 people that run Isomux in production need a commercial license from Isomux LLC, self-hosted or hosted. Engineers set up the agents, non-technical employees build their own tools with them, and engineers join the same conversation when they need help. As of September 2026, we are running a pilot with a YC-backed healthcare company. Read Isomux for Enterprise.

Frequently asked questions
What is a meta-harness?
Claude Code and Codex are harnesses around models. A meta-harness sits one level above them and runs them side by side. Isomux adds, among other things, messaging between agents, a shared task board, multiplayer, and a mobile UI.
Which agents does Isomux support?
Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode. Codex and OpenCode come bundled with Isomux; OpenCode needs Linux or macOS.
Do I need API keys?
No. Isomux works with your subscriptions: you sign in with your Claude or ChatGPT plan from inside the office. OpenCode also offers free models.
Is Isomux free?
Isomux is free for personal use and for organizations of up to 10 people, and anyone can evaluate, develop, and test with it. Larger organizations need a commercial license for production use, self-hosted or hosted. Hosted Isomux costs 8 EUR/month (Entry) or 17 EUR/month (Poweruser) for the server; agents run on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan.
Is Isomux open source?
It is source-available under the Business Source License 1.1. Each version converts to the Apache License 2.0 two years after its first release, and releases through v2026.9.10 remain available under the MIT License.
What is the tech stack?
Isomux is written in TypeScript. The server runs on Bun and keeps the office in plain files on disk, with no database. The browser UI is React, kept in sync over WebSockets. Claude agents run through the Claude Agent SDK, Codex agents through the Codex app server, and OpenCode agents through the OpenCode server.
Where does my data live?
On the server that runs your office. A hosted office runs entirely on your own server, with no Isomux cloud service in between, and keeps seven daily backups.
Is Isomux ready for production?
It is in beta. Bug reports welcome.
