Questions

Who is Isomux for?

Solo developers or small teams with a mix of technical and non-technical members; anyone who wants AI agents to feel more friendly, work around the clock, and be reachable from any device.

Can I run it myself?

Isomux is source-available under the Business Source License 1.1, and self-hosting is encouraged (see here). The hosted service is for people who would rather not set up their own VPS or home server.

Is there a free trial?

You can try it for free locally - just ask an agent to set it up. For the hosted service, we may have some free trials available - ask in Discord.

What happens if I cancel?

Your office keeps working through the period you paid for. At the end of that period, it is powered off and access stops. The server is not deleted for 14 days. During that time, restarting your subscription powers on the same office after payment is confirmed. After 14 days, we ask the provider to delete it as soon as the provider permits.

How private is my server?

We rent the VPS from established providers like Contabo, so they technically have access, though their own privacy terms bar them from using it. We only access it while setting it up. When you visit the office for the first time, you'll be asked to click a button to notify us; we then delete our access key. After that, only people you invite can get in.

During signup, your browser creates a server administrator key. Save it somewhere only you can access. You need it to install software, manage the server, recover office access, and verify that our setup key is gone. We receive only its public half and install it on your server so you can access it with the private half. For safety reasons, Isomux agents and the built-in terminal cannot act as a privileged user. Only you can do so with the administrator key. If you lose the key, recovery requires your written permission for us to use the VPS provider's rescue console, or a reinstall that erases the server.

Disclaimer: since we rent the server, we technically have the ability to power it off, wipe it, and access the provider's rescue console, which can reach the disk. We never use any of it unless you ask us to in writing, and we log exactly what we do. The same is true of any hosted VPS service.
